As I mentioned Wednesday, I sent letters to pastors of SBC churches in Texas.  Most of these pastors will never see those letters.

I know what happens to unsolicited letters from strangers.  The receptionist, or mail room person, gets the letters. It will be opened and the chances of it actually being read are slim.  If it is a large church, it will be taken to the administrative assistant’s office and if she has the authority to open the pastor’s mail, she will glance at it and then toss it. 

Maybe, maybe not.

Maybe she will call it to the attention of the pastor.  Then they will discuss how wrong I am and how the congregation would have a fit if even the mention of women’s equality were brought up.

They will dismiss this as why rock the boat.  Everything is going along just fine.  Or if it isn’t, now isn’t the time to bring up the subject of women’s equality.

When is a good time?  We’ve waited 2000 years since Jesus.  Seems that now is a good time.

If the envelope is opened, hopefully someone has looked at it.  Even when a person dislikes something, the very fact that they have seen it will open a crack in their minds.

That is why I send letters.  That is why I will send more next week.
