Jesus speaks about divorce and tells the men “you men think that you are the only ones who can divorce your spouse.” This is pure equality. What is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. Continue reading

Marriage is not the subject – part 2

Romans 7:1-3 is not a marriage manual in a how-to book. The apostle Paul uses illustrations from a woman’s legal point of view in a marriage because it wouldn’t work if he used a man’s legal point of view, because men could legally have multiple wives. Continue reading

Marriage is not the subject

Paul did not teach about marriage. He used marriage as an illustration to show the relationship between the new Christian and Christ. Continue reading

A Christmas miracle

You would never know it from pastors, but 1 Peter 3:1 is the same as 1 Corinthians 7:13. All is means is to remain in whatever situation you are in – circumcised or not, married or not, slave or not. Has nothing to do with women must submit to their husbands in order to honor God. Continue reading

Is 1 Peter 3 an eternal Marriage Manual?

1 Peter 3 is not an eternal marriage manual. Instead it is just part of a passage that began with 1 Peter 2 which tells Christians how to act toward non-Christians, government, and with others, which includes husbands and wives. Continue reading

Sugar Coated Submission

Sugar coating does not help when we are talking about women submitting to their husbands. There is nothing wrong with submitting to your husband. What is wrong is that women are told that they have to do it to honor God. God never made that demand. It is not in the 10 Commandments, and Jesus never indicated that a wife had to submit to her husband in order to honor God. Continue reading
