Early day Christians did finally choose an earthly authority, called a pope. People were held in terror of their soul’s salvation since they believed that the Roman Catholic Church actually had the power to save them or send them to purgatory. I believe this is what Paul was trying to tell the people to avoid. Perhaps without knowing it, Paul was telling to keep separate church and state.)

Some things people say are just stupid

Let’s not be stupid. When you say that the husband is to love his wife as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her, you are demeaning the sacrifice Jesus made. Paul would never demean Jesus’ sacrifice, so this must mean something entirely different. Continue reading
